oaicodo
A moment to unwind in the city.
Located along the Ogu Ginza Shopping Street in Higashi-Ogu, Arakawa Ward, oaicodo is a cafe serving old-fashioned firm custard pudding with bittersweet caramel, Setoda lemon sweets, and daily lunch dishes in a relaxed room lined with books.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A bittersweet, dark caramel and a reassuring firmness that greets your spoon: the homemade custard pudding at oaicodo on Higashi-Ogu's Ogu Ginza Shopping Street has long been a quiet favorite. Made with an honest, egg-rich flavor, it is delicious served traditionally with soft whipped cream, though topping it with vanilla ice cream—letting cold sweetness mingle with bitter caramel—feels equally indulgent.
Citrus-forward house bakes bring another dimension to the tea-time selection. Highlights include a lemon cake made with ample Setoda lemon zest and juice, a tart layering cookie crust with pure whipped cream and lemon curd, and a parfait layered with homemade granola. Drinks receive equal care, ranging from dark-roast coffee brewed with beans from local roaster Kameyama Coffee to house-simmered spiced chai and smooth oat milk cafe au lait.
Come lunchtime, locals gather for comforting, home-style plates like handmade gyoza sets, daily lunch specials, and Thai-style coconut curry. The interior is lined with shelves of manga and novels, making it just as welcoming for solo diners who want to linger quietly. Whether you are after a satisfying midday meal or a calm afternoon with a paperback, a slice of cake, and a cold drink, it remains a delightfully easy spot to slip into.
